The Nickel Ride, an innovative and eco-friendly transportation service that connects your community with local commerce, today announced the launch of its third city, Punta Gorda, Florida. Punta Gorda boasts wonderful restaurants, marinas, and a pace of life that people from around the world come to enjoy. In addition to its beautifully restored historic district, Punta Gorda offers many natural attractions, waterside shopping, and leisurely strolls along the Harborwalk and at Fishermen’s Village on Charlotte Harbor. The city offers businesses a year-round clientele, which is made up of local, domestic, and international customers.
The Nickel Ride plans to operate in Punta Gorda’s bustling downtown location with pick up routes extending as far out as Emerald Pointe Condominium to Fisherman’s Village to the intersection of Taylor Road and Cooper Street. The planned hours of operation will be:

Friday – Saturday: 11:00 am – 12:00 am
Sunday: 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm
The Nickel Ride is a welcome addition to the community members of the Punta Gorda. Many residents have already taken to Facebook to share their joy for The Nickel Ride coming to their city. One future rider states, “What an awesome idea! My husband and I are so excited that this free service will be available in Punta Gorda! It will be a huge help when we want to get around for the day and not have to worry about driving or paying for Ubers.”
Punta Gorda city officials are equally as enthusiastic to be partnering with The Nickel Ride. “We are very excited to have The Nickel Ride operating in our city,” said John Wright, President, Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce, Inc. “This will be a unique and much-needed opportunity for both visitors and residents alike to savor the many delights of our city.”
Additionally, one of the Punta Gorda City Council members shared his sentiments on The Nickel Ride partnering with his community. “The Nickle Ride supports the rebranding and revitalization of the Historic District and Punta Gorda’s sustainable values of the past through promoting walkability and accessibility of the Downtown Historic District for all of Punta Gorda’s residents and visitors,” said Jaha Cummings, City Council Member, City of Punta Gorda.
To show its support for The Nickel Ride, the city of Punta Gorda is holding an official ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate this momentous occasion for the city and its community members. The event takes place on May 31, 2018, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm in association with one of The Nickel Ride’s advertising partners, Gettel Automotive Group, at the Gettel Lincoln location. Many of The Nickel Ride’s advertising partners will also be in attendance to show their support and community members throughout the city will be in attendance to get their first glance at the eco-friendly vehicles that will be driving them around their city.
